Deep Rest, Locally Delivered

I feel like we are finally entering a new era, thankfully! Where rest is no longer a reward for producitivity, but a pre-requesite for it. Recently Grace Beverley shared a fabulous peice of content with the words ‘Rest is not earned, it is required’ and that, I can get behind!

There has been a rise in what is called sleep tourism - luxury retreats, built entirely around rest (sounds bliss right?) But that alone is evidence that the world is finally waking up to what we (Lisajane & Ben) have known and preached for a while. And one thing that made us say HELL YES to starting Floatation Therapy NI:

Rest is the next competitive edge.

High achievers will soon be trading late nights and hustle culture, if not already, for something more valuable: deep, uninteruppted sleep/rest. And floatation therapy might just be the most efficient, and accessible, way to get it.

Back to Sleep Tourism, what is it and why should we care?
Sleep tourism refers to travel experiences built around rest, sleep optimisation, and nervous system recovery. Guests pay thousands for curated environments that promote better sleep - blackout rooms, circadian lighting, sleep coaches, magnesium baths, sound therapy, and more.

But the demand isn’t really about luxury. It’s about burnout.

We’ve become so used to chronic stress, light pollution, information overload, and poor sleep hygiene that many of us have forgotten what true rest even feels like.

Enter: Floatation Therapy

Now imagine this…

  • You step into a quiet, private room

  • You lie effortlessly weightless in a warm, Epsom salt-rich body of water

  • There’s no phone, no noise, no gravity - just stillness

  • For 60 minutes, your body, brain, and nervous system let go

That’s floatation therapy. And for many, it’s the first true rest they’ve felt in years.

What does Floation Therapy offer, that sleep doesnt?

We often hear that 8 hours of sleep is enough, but sleep quantity doesn’t equal recovery, if your nervous system is still in a state of dysregulation.

Floatation therapy mimics some of the deepest brain states we reach during deep sleep, with the added benefit of:

🧠 Reduced cortisol (our stress hormone)
🩵 Activation of the parasympathetic nervous system (rest + digest)
💤 Increased theta brainwaves - linked to deep relaxation and meditation
🪷 Improved magnesium absorption from Epsom salts (key for sleep and muscle repair)
😴 Dramatic improvements in post-float sleep depth and quality

In other words: you don’t just feel rested after floation therapy - you actually sleep better that night, and the nights that follow.

Your local sleep retreat in Northern Ireland…

Here’s the truth: you shouldn’t have to fly to Portugal, book into a £4,000 spa, or take annual leave to reset your body.

At Floatation Therapy NI, we’ve created a space for true nervous system recovery - right here in Belfast.
This is rest on demand, with no travel, no jet lag, and no eye mask required.

In a world that praises doing more, pushing harder, and sacrificing sleep for success. We’re proud to offer a counterculture rooted in deep rest, nervous system healing, and total restoration.

This isn’t just a float. It’s your biological reset button.

Because rest isn’t a luxury anymore.

It’s the foundatiion of everything.
