Frequently asked questions.

Pre-Float Preparation FAQs
👂 Do I have to wear earplugs?

Yes. We provide earplugs to protect your ears from salt water - please use them.

💆‍♀️ I have hair extensions/bonding/keratin treatments, can I float?

If you’ve had keratin, bonding, or chemical hair treatments in the last 4 weeks, please do not float, as the high salt concentration may damage them. If you float with hair extensions, you do so at your own risk.

🧂 What happens if I touch my face during a float?

Salt water will sting your eyes, so try not to touch your face. We provide clean water and a face cloth nearby in case you need to rinse mid-float.
🧴 Can I float if I’ve dyed my hair recently?

You must wait at least 14 days after dyeing your hair before floating, even for semi-permanent colour. If your hair releases any colour when wet (do a shower test), you’ll need to reschedule. Hair dye can permanently damage the float water and incur a cleaning fee of up to £1,500.

☀️ Can I float if I’ve had fake tan applied?

No. Please avoid floating for at least 7 days after applying any type of tan, including gradual tanners, sprays, or lotions. Fake tan can stain the water and tank.

💉 Can I float if I have a new tattoo or piercing?

To avoid stinging, irritation, or infection, we ask you to wait 4 weeks after any tattoo, piercing, or open wound before booking your float.

🧖‍♀️ Can I wear makeup or body products during a float?

No. Please arrive freshly showered, with no makeup, body lotions, oils, deodorant, or hair conditioner. These products contaminate the water and reduce float hygiene.

💧 Do I need to shower before and after my float?

Yes. You’ll shower thoroughly before your float (to keep the water clean) and again after your float (to rinse off the salt).

🩸 Can I float on my period?

Yes, as long as you use internal protection such as a tampon or menstrual cup, just as you would in a swimming pool or spa.

🚿 What if I contaminate the tank?

If the float tank is contaminated by hair dye, fake tan, makeup, bodily fluids, or oil-based products, a cleaning and refilling fee of up to £1,500 may apply.

🚨 What if I run over my float time?

To ensure safety, staff will intervene if needed using soft audio or light cues. Please exit the tank promptly when your session ends.

Health & Medical FAQs

Only if your condition is stable, medically managed, and your doctor approves. If you’re unsure, please check before booking.

Yes, many clients with anxiety, PTSD, or generalised stress find floatation deeply calming. However, if sensory reduction or stillness has previously triggered symptoms, let us know. You’re always in control of your environment.

🤰 Can I float while pregnant?

Yes, if you’re in your second or third trimester and your pregnancy is low-risk. Always consult your midwife or doctor first. We will provide additional floatation devices to help you feel comfortable. You can float on your back, side or stomach.

🙋‍♀️ What if I’m nervous or unsure?

Totally normal! Let us know in your booking notes or on arrival, and we’ll guide you through every step. You’re never locked in, and you can float with lights or music on, or the lid open.
